FREE LESSON: "Inside Out" vs "Outside In" strategy
VIDEO: 15 MINS + Exercise: 5 mins
At some point, every agency has sat with a new client and heard them say, “We just can’t think of anything to post on social media”. We have always taken this as an opportunity to share a proven story generation technique we can call the "Inside Out" vs "Outside In" strategy. This method allows you to brainstorm potential social media posts and campaigns by first considering the context of where they originate.
Inside Out: A story about something within the business or industry that the brand is in. Finding a way to share that story in an empathetic way that either entertains, informs or educates the audience online.
Outside In: Finding a story about something going in the world of the target customer or the wider society that they are part of. Finding a way of attaching the brands values to that story with a view to express empathy with the target customers priorities.
In this free video lesson, we explain the concept in full, with a series of examples and a real life case study from our time working on Alesha Dixon’s fragrance launch for The Fragrance Shop. Please allow 15 minutes to watch the full lesson.
